Fire doors are often held open by wedges, despite safety regulations and the advice of fire officers.
Dorgard, the safe fire door hold-open device, comes with a £5 cash back for each old wedge replace with a Dorgard device. Since its introduction by Brighton-based manufacturer Fireco, the Wedge Pledge has helped to take thousands of dangerous fire door wedges out of service.

Ex-Strathclyde Fire Safety Chief Dr Bob Docherty is Liaison Officer for Fireco. He claimed: "The Wedge Pledge is improving fire safety in offices, schools and healthcare centres nationwide. There are still tens of thousands of fire door wedges in use today ... A wedged-open door allows a fire to spread, causing injury or death, and exposing the person responsible to prosecution." Dorgard is simply screwed to the bottom of a fire door, ready for use in five minutes.
