The Welsh Federation of Housing Associations has intervened in a row over a transfer in Wrexham.
Tenants are set to vote on the transfer of 12,300 homes in the next two months to new association Tai Wrecsam but the proposal has met with fierce opposition.

A local anti-transfer group, Wrexham Against Stock Transfer, has been set up, and has won support from John Marek, Welsh Assembly member for Wrexham.

Now the federation, which represents all associations in Wales, has written to local newspaper The Wrexham Leader to counter allegations that transfer is equivalent to “privatisation” and that housing association rents are higher than those of councils.

Director Howard John said: “We are neutral on whether Wrexham should transfer but we cannot stand by while an anti-association campaign is run.”
