Your article on the number of registered social landlords in the London borough of Lambeth and discussion of whether consolidation is necessary was well timed (3 December, page 26).
The board of Metropolitan Housing Trust has approved in principle the incorporation into the trust of one of the featured RSLs: Llangattock Housing Association.
Llangattock owns and manages one sheltered scheme and has just one full-time member of staff, so it is no surprise that the office was closed when you called. The reason for merging is because Llangattock has found it increasingly difficult to comply with the bureaucracy of Supporting People and the changing aspirations of older people.
Step Forward, the support arm of Metropolitan, will manage the support service with Metropolitan managing the property. Both housing management and support services are based in Lambeth.
