Working is a risky business
Security managers responsible for health and safety in the workplace take note... The latest figures suggest that no less than 295 people died at their place of employment in 2000 due to insufficient safety measures being put in place.
The Daily Mail's round-up of the Health and Safety Commission's (HSC) report states that 73 deaths were due to falls, 64 caused by moving vehicles, 52 by falling objects and 37 by objects collapsing or overturning. The overall death toll has risen by a third since 1999.
£8 billion crime bonanza in the UK
The National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS) has used the pages of The Daily Telegraph to reveal the true extent of organised crime in the UK.

Fortifying those company cars
Car door locks and immobilisers can deter thieves, but it's still child's play for villains to 'do a smash-and-grab'. Unless a vehicle's side and rear windows are fitted with laminated glass, that is.
An article published in a recent edition of 'Which?' magazine states that the demand for such glass is likely to grow in the UK for both luxury models and cheaper vehicles alike as its benefits are realised.
Pan-European research conducted by Solutia Inc has found that alarm and security systems remain the most desirable safeguards among security managers, but 86% were in favour of laminated glass as a 'next step' on the road to security.
