Your leader (BSJ 03/06) raised a number of important matters - many of which I included in my 2002 Presidential Address, "Supply Chain to the Profession".

Referring specifically to your comments about a name change for CIBSE, I mentioned this and made some suggestions, anticipating a time when it would be right to have a debate about it - maybe now is that time.

I approached a name change from the view that CIBSE is an established and respected brand and should therefore, if possible, be retained. I offered the following ideas for consideration: Chartered Institution of Building Systems Engineers (CIBSE); Chartered Institution of Building Systems and Environment (CIBSE) and Chartered Institution of Building Systems and Environment Engineers (CIBSEE).

This is a fundamental issue for the Institution and there needs to be full debate and time for reflection. I look forward to hearing what others feel about this matter, and about these specific suggestions.
