What's the deal? The London Arena stadium on the Isle of Dogs in east London is to be demolished and replaced by more than 1000 homes as part of a £300m redevelopment. Developer Ballymore Properties is in the process of selecting a housing association to manage the scheme's 265 affordable homes. Tower Hamlets council is considering a planning application for the project, which includes a 400-room hotel, offices and an ice rink. The scheme, designed by architect Skidmore Owings and Merrill, is set for completion by 2006.
