Last seen – Terry Chapman was managing director of Carillion project and construction management arm Schal.

The firm was a significant player during the rise of construction management in the 1990s, working on schemes such as Tate Modern. As this type of work tailed off this decade so did Schal. Chapman had ambitious plans for the firm to offer more project management as well as high-end contracting work such as the redevelopment of the BBC’s Broadcasting House building, but they didn’t coincide with those of Carillion, who promptly merged the firm into its contracting business. Hence Chapman, who tried to lead a management buyout at the firm last year, decided to part ways with Carillion in the spring.

Now appearedAt new consultancy firm Initiate as chief operating officer. Chapman has joined up with some familiar industry names at the firm, set up by David Law last year. Other board members include Jarvis chairman and mayoral bridesmaid Steve Norris and former Railtrack director David Meek. Clients include BAA Parkview International Metronet and Honda. The firm is planning to establish new regional offices in the UK and the Middle East.
