Fagerhult AB of Sweden has acquired Whitecroft Lighting for an undisclosed sum.
Whitecroft will continue to operate as an independent business within the Fagerhult Group, with the same management team at its base in Ashton-under-Lyne, near Manchester.
Paul Barton, managing director of Whitecroft, says: “As a member of the Fagerhult Group, we will be able to invest and strengthen our market position. Fagerhult is one of Europe’s leading lighting companies and this is a great fit for Whitecroft in every respect.
“We will continue to build our brand and market position in the commercial, healthcare, education and retail sectors.”
Whitecroft Lighting had been an independent business since a management buyout in 2000. It has a sales turnover of around £30 million and employs 280 people. Fagerhult has annual sales of £115 million and employs 1200 people.
