I understand that the whole issue of higher education in construction needs to be addressed, but why run down BSC qualifications with an 'I'm alright Jack' stance just because the number of CIOB members continues to rise. By all means promote Construction Management degrees as entirely vocational qualifications, but do not decry their worth.
I have spent 11 years in part time education and the BSC is the culmination of that. A more demotivating article would be hard to conceive.
Is it any wonder that school leavers have little desire to join an industry that purveys the kind of negativity that is present in your article. If it, and more particularly the headlines, were written to be sensational then you've succeeded - for all the wrong reasons.
Yours, still considering my membership of the CIOB
