The number of jobs in the wind energy sector will double by 2020, according to a report from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA).

The EWEA report, ‘Wind at Work’ claims that the European wind energy sector has created 33 new jobs every day for the past five years, and that the figure could rise to 325,000 by 2020.

The report has also indicated that wind turbine manufacturers are the main employers of the sector with 37% of all direct jobs, followed by component manufacturers and project developers.

75% of all direct wind energy jobs are within Denmark, Germany and Spain, however other EU Member States such as France, Italy and the UK are said to be catching up.
