One of the latest town centre surveillance schemes to ‘go live’ employs a 24-camera dome system boasting some novel operational features.
Installed by national CCTV and access control specialist Quadrant Video Systems, the turnkey project supplies the town of Witney in Oxfordshire with a £75,000 private fibre optic network along which CCTV images may be distributed. The entire scheme was completed in just 12 weeks.
The Control Room (pictured) employs a flexible Synectics Tesseract video matrix system and X250 keyboards such that security officers can switch and control any camera to any spot or video wall monitor.
Effectively ‘blanking out’ pre-defined ‘sensitive’ areas of view from system operators, Synectics’ PRIVacy masking device has also helped in ensuring that the scheme complies with the terms of both the Human Rights Act and the Data Protection Act.
