The article "Hackney drops £440m Woodberry Down scheme" (3 October, page 12) implies that Hackney council is abandoning the Woodberry Down regeneration scheme. This was misleading and could have caused unecessary alarm.
Hackney Council is 100% committed to the regeneration of the Woodberry Down estate.
The sale of the disused school site will not jeopardise the scheme, and will provide a significant number of decant homes.
We anticipate that the regeneration of the estate will be complete within the original 12-13 year timescale.
Hackney council has an excellent record of estate regeneration and is determined to work with residents to ensure that Woodberry Down is a success story.
