Work has started on Liverpool's Old Hall Street, a new £45 million development from Beetham Org which will house Liverpool's first £1 million private apartment. Building services, structural and fire engineering are by Buro Happold. The architect is Abbey Holford Rowe. The development includes a 27-storey residential tower block, next to a 200 bedroom, four star hotel. A combined heat and power unit will be installed for hotel use. With an electrical output of around 200 kVA, the generated electrical supply from the chp will feed the lv switchboard essential section – meaning that there is no need for a standby generator. The chp system will also complement the production of lphw heating for general hotel consumption 24 hours a day. The new development is due for completion in 2004.
