The Yorkshire & Humber Regional Assembly is set to carry out a review of its functions after several member councils recommended slashing the subscriptions they pay to the assembly by 50%.

If the cut goes ahead, the assembly could lose about £800,000.

The assembly, which had already been hit by the withdrawal of East Riding council last year, will publish its review in the autumn.

However, it said the report would not affect its plans to take over the regional housing strategy later in the year.

Sue Jeffrey, director of policy and strategy, said: “The review will see what adds the most value in the region. I think any change in subscription levels make you look again at what you’re doing.”
