Fears that architects who specify stainless steel and polished brass door handles risk being sued under new legislation have been dispelled by the Association of Building Hardware Manufacturers. This follows claims made after the publication of Document M which says that all door opening furniture should contrast visually with the door surface and that the difference in light reflectance value between the two surfaces should be at least 30 points. The ABHM says that architects and specifiers should continue to use their judgement and specify metal products as usual.
