Building work is now complete on the Mersey Ferry Terminal building in Liverpool, engineered by AECOM.

The new ferry terminal at Pier Head in Liverpool sits in front of the “Three Graces” on a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Cantilevered on two sides, the two-storey building is clad in limestone blocks to compliment the new Liverpool museum.

Engineering consultant AECOM provided a multidisciplinary role on the project, carrying out all building services and structures design work.

A Variable Refrigerant Flow heat pump system provides heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. The building also has a recycled rainwater system for plant watering and flushing toilets, and natural ventilation is achieves by automated window opening.

The building is expected to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good.’
