Bridisco, the electrical distribution group that includes both BDC and Foster Electrical Supplies, is in administration.

Established in 1961, Bridisco employed about 600 staff and had an annual turnover of £135m. The company, headquartered in north London, is a wholesaler and distributor of a wide range of electrical goods. It operates through a nationwide network of 30 distribution centres, most of which are now closed.

The company’s own brands include Micromark and PowerLectrik.

Alan Hudson and Roy Bailey of Ernst & Young have been appointed joint administrators of Bridisco.
