Cyril Sweett puts signed book up for auction. Proceeds go to children's charity. Go on have a bid

It's the hottest item on eBay right now. Yes Cyril Sweett have put up the unputdownable 'JCT 2005 What's New' bestseller up on the auction site, complete with the signature of the author, and Sweett legal egghead James Davison. The current bid is £9, well below the normal asking price of £39.95.

This auction was the result of a late-night debate after the recent launch of this book between Andrew Hemsley, the managing director of Cyril Sweett's Consulting team and Davison.

Andrew reckons that the book is well under-priced and that one way to increase the price would be to sell copies signed by the author. James, being a shy and retiring chap, thought there would be no additional value from this. A £5 bet rests on whether a signed copy is worth more than the cover price. It was agreed to settle the bet by testing what such a copy would reach on eBay. Will Andrew win - you decide.

All proceeds of this sale (and Cyril Sweett will add a bit on top as well) will be donated to their nominated charity: CHASE - Hospice Care for Children
