There has been a big fall in the number of firms seeking advice on redundancy and employment issues.

Small and medium-sized firms seeking advice from helplines run by the National Federation of Builders fell 23% in April.

This was about half of the total in March when 167 calls were made. The figures are the lowest since June last year.

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) also reported a 40% decline in the number of members seeking advice on redundancy since January.
