The group includes representatives of TSI Luckins, Drake & Scull, Amec Building Services, ABB, NG Bailey, Crown House Engineering, BSS, Newey & Eyre, Lorne Stewart and Estimation.
Their aim is to quickly build a demonstration of a tested e-commerce solution. A pilot programme has begun, run by two contractors, using existing data for 200 of the most used products.
The objective is to define the package of information that will be made available for transfer and use within the back office systems of distributors and contractors.
Suppliers and end-users have been reluctant trade electronically on a one-to-one basis. The group aims to prove that e-commerce can work for building services.
