Saturation of the energy assessment market has now become a real problem

More and more people are training as domestic energy assessors, mainly owing to the increasing number of new training providers – including further education colleges, which are now offering these courses regionally, too.

At the Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA), we receive enquiries daily from new entrants asking us which training provider is the best one for them to use. Our standard response is that, unless you are already in a related industry or have good estate agency or conveyencing contacts, don’t bother to train as there is a surplus of DEAs already. Many of our members are now suffering real financial hardship owing to lack of available work. It really is time the government stepped in and did something about this disgraceful situation.
