Firms large and small are feeling the crunch right now, particularly since the unprecedented slump in the housing sector and the events in the financial world.

The media talks us into recession and then wonders how we will get out of it. The government needs to take decisive action – unpopular though it might be – to bolster infrastructure and housebuilding. The construction works related to the

Olympic Games will be a much-needed boost but this will be limited. We need more spread around the UK. Actions today will be the making or breaking of the current government; let’s hope that for all our sakes it’s the former.
