It is impossible to see how these terms could be considered fair by anybody (Anger at Carillion’s 120-day payment terms, 28 March, page 10). There should be an appropriate relationship between being paid and paying others and anything else is grossly unfair.

The idea that such a scheme would be optional is of course disingenuous because those who accept the terms will be favoured. Those that accept the terms will win the business and will pass the terms down the supply chain creating impossible conditions for SMEs.
