The James Hardie managing director on Playing to Win, the generation gap, and being knee deep in mud

Henk Johan Bassie

What is your favourite website?

It has to be the beeb, I visit every lunchtime for world news.

iPhone/Blackberry/Android. Which side are you on?

iPhone for work, mainly for taking lots of photos on building sites whilst knee deep in mud!

Are you into social networking?

I don’t bother with the social side, but use professional sites like LinkedIn for communicating with the main house-building networks.

What is your favourite app?

Wordfeud - a scrabble-type app to play against lots of opponents. This one is another lunchtime habit of mine!

What is your preferred means of communication?

Always face to face if possible, although our Europe business has lots of offices so sometimes the phone has to do.

What did you last buy online?

A business strategy book recommended by a colleague – Playing to Win – I haven’t got around to reading it yet but have heard it is good!

PC or Mac?

PC, I don’t think I’d know how to switch a Mac on. Perhaps it’s a generational thing?!

Guilty pleasures: Most played tunes from iTunes/Spotify?

My guilty pleasure is another app – Livescore, which has the results of lots of international footie matches. I am sports mad so like to keep on top of the news.
