In response to your "View from the Edge" article (10 February, page 36), yes I do have some ideas on energy use, lots of them. The problem is "the industry" has its own agenda.

I am appalled that James Lovelock, with his brilliant insights on the planet as a living organism, takes the view that nuclear is the way forward, when it is going to make the planet uninhabitable for any known life forms. My interpretation of Gaia is that the biosphere has survived and adapted to many catastrophes over billions of years and can survive a surfeit of human beings and a hot planet. Irradiated dead organisms, on the other hand, don't reproduce.
