It was refreshing to see in the techmeisters article (26 September, page 74) that the work of technology specialists is beginning to be valued.
In January the International Standards Organisation confirmed that the BACnet open protocol would be adopted as a communication standard for integrating building and automation products. This is step forward for facilities managers, who will be able to expand and add systems without starting again from scratch – and without being locked into using one manufacturer.
