I read with surprise your assertions in the article “Illegal T5 Worker Deported” (20 April, page 11).

Terminal 5 has some of the strictest safety and security procedures of any construction site in the UK. Because of this, from a total of 45,000 workers employed at T5 since construction began in 2002, less than 0.01% have been found to be working illegally or in breach of their immigration status.

The discovery that this worker was in breach of his work permit was a result of the audits and checks we undertake regularly in partnership with the control authorities, and demonstrates just how robust and successful our procedures are at T5.
