I have for many years felt that Roger Knowles, chairman of Baqus, was the voice of reason and practicability in the building industry so I was delighted to read his letter in Inbox (15 May, page 32)

What a common sense and innovative solution to the so-called “tender information overload”.

As a sole practitioner chartered quantity surveyor, I see at first hand how projects that incorporate bills of quantities, or even quantified schedules of works, generally run far smoother from a financial control point of view than any other type of contract.

Thank you Roger for giving all us grassroots QSs some hope for the future.
