Further to your article on the threatened closure of the CITB’s National Construction College (29 September, page 28), I am writing to express our support for its redevelopment.

The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation has long been associated with the development and provision of scaffolding training at the college through the industry training scheme (CISRS). We believe further investment into this facility is critical to the future of world-class training in the region.

From a more general perspective we would add that the college provides accommodation and welfare, which are essential to the wider development of a workforce. If we get this right, it will serve the construction industry well in the years ahead.
