The current drive for "affordable housing" is undoubtedly a gallant attempt to allow lower income households to invest in their own property.
However, as a young construction professional, living in the Ribble Valley and looking to buy my first property, I find it astounding that in my area, there is a planning freeze on all property construction, other than "affordable" homes. With such a situation, is it not surprising that housebuilders are reluctant to build new homes?

Planning regulations should allow for "more houses", not just those which are "affordable". Building any properties means reducing the strain on the existing housing market – and therefore easing the upward pressure on house prices.
