The unsung heroes’ lament I write regarding your article (5 January, page 36) with horoscopes of the 12 facets of the building industry. The contractor is one of the 12, as are the architect and the client but I’m gobsmacked engineers aren’t mentioned.

The production of a building requires a builder, an architect, an engineer and a client.

The other parties you describe are peripheral; the engineer is central. You switch the light on, you drive your car, you get the train, you get the lift up to your office, all because of engineering. Your magazine doesn’t seem to have realised this. Could we be recognised in next year’s building horoscope, please? One sentence would be something ...
