As a regular reader of your magazine for many years, I must agree with the market opinion that Building is a quality leader in the construction industry and it is gratifying to know you give readers the opportunity to express concerns about any of the issues published.

I feel this is one of these times to respond.

I refer to the article “PFI under the knife” (23 September). This implies that the public sector grossly under-resources services when compared with the private sector, with only £3/m2 being spent on cleaning compared with £15-20/m2 in the private sector. As a senior practitioner in this field I know this to be grossly inaccurate, as many public sector clients, particularly in the health sector, pay a great deal of attention to cleanliness and will resource as much as £25/m2.
