I was disappointed to read the article about the Dead Sea project (23 February).

The article takes a blinded view and I don’t share your enthusiasm. The proposals don’t take account the main reason why the Jordan River and the Dead Sea are shrinking – because Israelis are using too much water, putting sprinklers in their gardens and diverting water away from Palestinian areas, leading crops to fail and thousands of children to be malnourished. As the article says, better water management is needed by Israel before this project can go ahead.
