I read with interest your article about the formation of the new Construction Council to be chaired by John McDonough (11 July, page 13).

I was gobsmacked to read that the new UK Contractors Group will complement the Construction Council by speaking on “non-business matters such as sustainability …”

For Willmott Dixon, sustainability remains a key business matter as we strive to reduce waste and cut the carbon we produce, while creating energy-efficient solutions for clients. I am concerned about how the Construction Council is proposing to become the main industry voice on “business issues” if this does not include sustainability?
