On the subject of the RICS fee increase, the council very properly notified the membership in the AGM literature about its proposals for the extremely substantial increase in subscriptions.
However, they would be aware from the normal annual response to AGM literature that most members do not even open the envelope unless it is clearly marked with an eye-catching heading. I suggest they should have had printed on the envelope: "Proposal to increase subscriptions enclosed". Then much more than 19% of the membership would have replied. Clearly the majority of members have been unaware of the the council's intentions and, as such, the approval is undemocratic.

I, for one, will be supporting the proposal to organise an EGM and will vote against any substantial increase. Further, in the event that the increase is still supported by the membership, I shall be resigning at the end of the year.
