Am I right to be sceptical about the value of the opinions of Lord Foster, Alec Reed and Sir Cyril Taylor about the new west London city academy? (10 February, page 13)

I'm sure that none of them is going to use the building and they have little in common with the people who will. Surely the design of the academy should focus on the attitudes and aspirations of the user group. It's perfectly possible to find out about them using modern research techniques.
