Climate change is slipping down the world agenda while CO2 emissions rise globally

Prior to the G8 summit, the world leaders stated they remained fully committed to achieving a new climate change agreement by 2015. Instead the issues were taken off the agenda and the opportunity to encourage the building industry to find sustainable solutions missed. Climate renovation holds a huge potential as existing buildings account for 40% of Europe’s energy consumption. In 2050 more than 90% of existing buildings in Europe will still be in use.

Climate change is slipping down the world agenda while CO2 emissions rise globally. Increased energy efficiency in existing buildings could direct a viable and cost-efficient course to reducing CO2 emissions while creating jobs, growth and innovation.
