Incentives in the Autumn Statement are a step in the right direction but not enough

Housing

The chancellor acknowledges the supply of housing has not kept up with demand, but the incentives in his Autumn Statement will make little impact on the 100,000 homes we are failing to build each year.

Cash to unlock stalled housing schemes is excellent, but unlocking existing housing development sites alone will not reduce the current shortfall.
More work is needed to kick-start development in this area but help for first time buyers, investment in the affordable homes programme and support for the private rented sector is definitely a step in the right direction.
