I recently watched Restoration on BBC2. Like many, I was both interested and depressed.
Later, I discovered that in my home town of Eastbourne, East Sussex, the council intends to close the Redoubt Fortress Museum. This structure is a sole survivor of a type of fort constructed during the Napoleonic Wars.

After suffering some neglect, it was restored 10-15 years ago at public expense. If any of your readers wish to protest at the possible future loss of this part of our architectural heritage, they should voice their concerns urgently by letter or fax to: Mrs Olive Woodall, The Mayor, The Town Hall, Grove Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN21 4TW, fax 01323-410322.
