It is only a matter of time before BIM becomes commonplace

BIM

The National Federation of Builders’ (NFB) report into BIM readiness (SMEs lack the knowledge to adopt BIM, says builders survey, 16 November, page 11) highlights the need for SMEs to upskill to keep up with our changing industry. Today’s industry is about far more than traditional building. Leeds Arena, Manchester Library and the Ministry of Justice are just a few of the projects that have used BIM to reduce costs and improve efficiency. It is only a matter of time before BIM becomes commonplace, and SMEs must upskill or risk missing out on work.

This is why CITB-ConstructionSkills supported the BIM readiness research. We work with the NFB and others to ensure SMEs have the skills to capitalise on the opportunities as the industry returns to growth. To find out more visit www.cskills.org/cutcarbon.
