Proctor and Matthews to work with Mecanoo on strategic masterplan
Peabody has appointed Proctor and Matthews Architects as project leader and design team co-ordinator for the regeneration of South Thamesmead in south east London.
The practice will work in partnership with Dutch outfit Mecanoo to develop a strategic masterplan for the site.
The regeneration scheme will include 1,900 new homes in Thamesmead housing zones across the London Borough of Bexley and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Peabody said it expected an outline planning application will be submitted during winter 2015, alongside a detailed application for around 500 homes at Southmere Village, the first stage in the development.
The design team also includes:
- Pitman Tozer Architects, Bell Phillips Architects and Project Orange (detailed design)
- Turkington Martin (landscape architecture)
- CBRE (planning and residential development consultancy)
- Max Fordham (utilities, services, energy)
- Peter Brett Associates (structural, civil & highways, engineering).
Jeremy Stibbe, executive director development and sales at Peabody said: “Thamesmead’s housing zones will be about more than simply new homes.
