Ian Humphreys is the new president of the EEIBA

Ian Humphreys, managing director of BI Electrical Services based in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland is the new president of the industry’s charity, the Electrical & Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA).

Humphreys succeeded Jim Speirs, executive chairman of the NICEIC Group.

Humphreys, who has been EEIBA vice president since 2007, runs his own electrical contracting company BI Electrical Services.

During his career he has been an active member of the Electrical Contractors’ Association, having served as chairman of the local Belfast branch.

“This will be an extremely difficult year for the Charity, both in terms of an increased number of beneficiaries who will require help and the difficulty of obtaining increased funding due to the current economic climate,” said Humphreys.

He continued by paying tribute to his predecessor Jim Speirs. “I have worked closely with Jim over the past 18 months and in my opinion, he is the reason that the charity is in such good shape for whatever lies ahead in the coming years.”
