Watkins Jones & Sons hit the big time in May, and Bovis dislodges Sir Robert McAlpine from top spot.
A Welsh contractor has made its first appearance in the barometer monthly league table thanks to a £23m deal in Greater Manchester.

Watkin Jones debuted in 16th place after winning the contract to build a mixed-use scheme for Opal Developments.

Meanwhile, Australian contractor Multiplex re-entered the table with an £80m development in east London, and Bovis Lend Lease secured the top spot with nine contracts worth £213m. Sir Robert McAlpine, top dog last month, fell back to second. This result helped Bovis maintain its commanding lead in the yearly table, ahead of HBG.

The top three clients and architects were almost unchanged, with J Sainsbury handing out the most work and HOK International bagging the most contracts.
