Midlands firm continues to astound as it beats off Sir Robert McAlpine – which hangs onto yearly pole position.
Derbyshire contractor Bowmer & Kirkland's meteoric rise up the league table continues. Two months ago the contractor did not even figure, but after a strong September it was promoted to fourth place. It now stands at number one, nearly £50m ahead of nearest rival Sir Robert McAlpine.

Still, it was a good October for Sir Robert McAlpine, with four contract wins stretching its yearly lead over Skanska UK to £135.1m.

The £445m Wembley stadium deal continues to have an impact on the charts. Last month Multiplex topped the monthly contractors' league; this month Wembley Stadium Limited is at second place in the client tables.

To qualify, firms must have had two or more projects of confirmed value, at main contract stage, at least £1m value, in the UK. Residential contracts are excluded.
