The industry may be showing faith in new technologies, but uptake isn’t automatically keeping up
A survey gauging how workers feel about digitisation across the industry indicates that construction professionals feel broadly positive about the state of things, but use and uptake does not necessarily match that optimism.
Aecom’s sentiment survey, which polled 267 people across the sector. Of these, 79% said they believed digital tools would automate mundane tasks and enable more creativity and better design; 89% said they would make the process of construction faster, safer and cheaper; and large numbers felt enthused about (60%) when new technologies are brought onto a project, with half feeling engaged by this.
