Didn't make it to this week's MIPIM property fair in Cannes? Never mind, here are five more glamorous networking opportunities

Barcelona Europe's number-two property fair after MIPIM, Meeting Point Barcelona, claims to get 15,000 visitors – almost as many as its Cannes rival. Last year's highlight was a cocktail reception at Gaudi's extraordinary dragon-shaped house, Casa Batlló, 16-19 October.

Cannes MAPIC, held on the Côte d'Azur on 15-17 November, is MIPIM's little sister. The retail and commercial property fair attracts about 5000 people, making it a far more intimate event. Last year's highlight was the opening cocktail party at the Carlton Hotel.

Orlando The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions is holding its convention and trade show in Orlando, Florida, on 12-17 November. The mammoth event for people who build and operate theme parks expects 30,000 attendees. Highlights include stands with full-size rollercoasters and rides.

Surfers Paradise The five-star Marriott Resort hosts the Building Tomorrow's Future conference on 9-11 April. This being Australia, delegates are asked to wear "Gold Coast casual" throughout. Highlights include a Seaworld Welcome Dinner and tour of Gold Coast Movie World.

Berlin The German capital may not be sunny, but on 22-26 July 2002, it hosts architecture's biggest knees-up: the three yearly congress of the International Union of Architects. Highlights include an architectural parade through the city.
