The grade I-listed Stowe House, home to Stowe School, has refurbished its period Garter Room, which included laying a porcelain parquet-effect floor

Supplied by Capital Marble Design, the brief was for an easily maintained, hard-wearing floor to replace the worn wooden floor and which would be agreeable to English Heritage.

The installation includes 900 x 225mm porcelain tiles, which resemble an aged wooden floor. The tiles feature a narrow parquet design, in keeping with the period of the house. The finished floor looks established and will withstand heavy, daily foot traffic.
