A team of engineers from Gifford has won an international competition to design a low cost, easy-to-build rural classroom

The competition was organised by US based Architecture for Humanity and the Open Architecture Network. Gifford says its design for a classroom for sub-Saharan Africa (above) would cost less than $3000 to erect. The sustainable structure is designed to be built by rural communities in countries such as Uganda.
