A Liverpool Holiday Inn is saving energy and costs thanks to a new electrical solution.
The 159-bedroom St Georges Hotel in Liverpool city centre will gain from a new energy saving solution installed during a recent refurbishment.

Belfast-based contractor DM Engineering selected Hager panelboards, TP&N distribution boards and split load consumer units for the task of reducing the Holiday Inn's energy use.

The electrical distribution system has a rising busbar from the switchboard feeding a six-way panelboard on each floor. These in turn feed the 12 or 16-way distribution boards, which lead to split load consumer units fitted with two rcd incomers.

Energy switches have been included in all bedrooms. These are activated by a sim card at the door, which switches on light and power in the room via a contactor in the consumer unit. When the card is removed the power is automatically switched off, giving significant energy savings to the hotel over the year.
