Each week 20 tradesmen – including plumbers, electricians and joiners – die from diseases caused by breathing in asbestos fibres.

To tackle the problem, the Health & Safety Executive has launched a national campaign, Asbestos: The Hidden Killer, to highlight the dangers associated with the material. A new website provides information on where asbestos is found, its effects, and how to avoid exposure when handling it.
